  Advertising on SPA Website/Facebook
by: FCBash, 07-05-2018 10:03 PM (#1)

At yesterday's AGM there was a proposal that was carried which now means any clubs who wish to use the SPA website and/or Facebook page for advertising/promoting their events shall have to pay an annual subscription fee of £25.

This includes the various tour events etc held in various clubs, therefore any tour organiser who wishes to advertise their tour will need to ensure the club the event is being held in has paid their subscription or the forum thread shall be deleted without warning.

All monies raised through this shall be donated to the Mick McGoldrick fund.

Michael

So let me get this straight, cos for the life of me I canít get my head around this..

So for the tours ie wos, eos, highland, central which use various venues for maybe 1 or 2 events a year, each venue on top of what they pay for hosting the event they must now pay £25 to the spa also??

For what exactly??

Simply because the tour organiser puts up info for all players to see, that in itself carries a £25 penalty for the venues involved..

Is that correct??

If thatís the case that is the stupidest thing Iíve ever heard...

Clubs make little money from events as it is,not to mention close off all there tables for the full day/s and knock back the public so we can use there venue and you have the cheek to tell them they need to pay an extra £25 to the spa simply because we are using there venue...

That is an absolute disgrace and imo will only do one thing and that is see a big downturn in venues being available to use for spa events as I cannot see why any venues would agree to pay this fee..

I could be wrong tho...I will contact all venues I use for wos tour and see what there response is.but Iím sure I already know it...

Ok, it's only £25 , and it's going to a good cause , but ...

A pool hall , advertising on a pool site , advertising a pool tournament ? ? And paying for it, really !

It's an annual fee , from when ?
How is it paid ?

Yes , I still get some tournaments ! ! !

Vinny,

I believe you are assuming correctly for part of your post but wrongly on another. Iíll break it down and respond.

So for the tours ie wos, eos, highland, central which use various venues for maybe 1 or 2 events a year, each venue on top of what they pay for hosting the event they must now pay £25 to the spa also??

Yes, any venue associated with the independent tours would require to have paid an annual fee of £25 to advertise their event on the SPA Forums/Facebook pages. Say for example, using your WoS tour, that Cue Here host event 1, they have paid their fee, then event 1 can be advertised using the SPA outlets. Then for event 2, held by Q-Club, who havenít paid their fee, then the event cannot be advertised on the SPA outlets.

For what exactly??

Access to the SPA outlets and its registered members. This is a wide audience that is being accessed with no cost implication at present.

Simply because the tour organiser puts up info for all players to see, that in itself carries a £25 penalty for the venues involved..

Is that correct??

Some of the posts are not just advertising the info for players, some are gathering interest and accessing the SPA audience. Itís not a penalty. Itís a small fee, in general terms, 50p per week (as stated by a club owner yesterday) to access the SPA audience. The £25 would cover any event that club wished to advertise in a year, not just those events associated with the independent tours they host.

If thatís the case that is the stupidest thing Iíve ever heard...

That is your opinion, which you are fully entitled to.

Clubs make little money from events as it is,not to mention close off all there tables for the full day/s and knock back the public so we can use there venue and you have the cheek to tell them they need to pay an extra £25 to the spa simply because we are using there venue...

This proposal was made by a club owner, and carried with no votes against it. Clubs are not being told they must pay the fee. It is a choice the club owner has to make whether they wish to advertise on the SPA outlets or not.

Bearing in mind feeís for advertising is not a new concept here. Previous posts, for all events/tours were to be charged £5 per forum thread which hasnít been administered, however, a line has been drawn in the sand and previous posts etc shall not be subject to recovery of costs.

That is an absolute disgrace and imo will only do one thing and that is see a big downturn in venues being available to use for spa events as I cannot see why any venues would agree to pay this fee..

Costs will not be applicable to events ran and sanctioned by the SPA. These can continue to be advertised as they are at present.

I could be wrong tho...I will contact all venues I use for wos tour and see what there response is.but Iím sure I already know it...

Some venues will likely not have any issues, other may have many...

It shall be a yearly fee from the date of payment Gary. The funds can be paid into the SPA General Account.
