Just reading about this now and it is catergorically a joke. I remember not long ago seeing Lee Killen play for Ayr C team at an event and thinking what you doing here. Was allowed to play and at the time was in the Scottish A team. Rules for one and rules for another 100%.

The SPA know there are areas where team selections are still a classic pals act and some people despite how good they are will never be picked for there areas top teams. So effectively you are punishing players for not being in a clique and punishing players for having a life beyond pool. One man does not make a team so i dont see why the SPA are making such a big deal about certain people playing in the teams. As for edinburgh, A was definately better than B, and B better than C and so on that should be the only rule in place for this event this nonsense of player categories and rankings for a team event should be scrapped!!!

Jeez the rankings aren't even really used to select the Scotland teams yet they are effective for superleague, what a laugh that is!!

Lee played for B team at 2 events, never C team. Chris Payne was a former European singles champion and played with C team so you are right, the consistency isnít there. Ross has already came on though and said the old TC didnít follow the rules, but the new TC are so that argument will fall on deaf ears.

That said, I agree with everything else in your post 100%. As long as the A is better than B and so on, it shouldnt matter.

This has to be a joke....as long as your A is better than B and B better than C whatís the problem...
Guys have a life outwith pool and a lot of guys work and can only fit supers around this..which for some means they can only play when it suits them and that may mean they can only make certain weekends and teams...are you really gonna knock players back from playing because they can only make the dates of the areas b team or c team...it should be applauded that the player is still willing to go and play for that team knowing that he would have been in the areas A team if was available...they should not be punished and refused...areas are not trying to make up supers teams etc...they are just trying there best to field there best teams with what they have available..if a guy canít make certain dates then he should be allowed to play in the event he can make..simple as that......

Also...to get to such a late stage as a week or so b4 an event to then contact an area to say this player and that player canít play is an absolute disgrace....teams should be vetted long b4 now and players informed long b4 now...if thatís whatís in place...
Canít ever recall being told about this rule tho...
Players have booked holidays off work, paid for caravan and possibly hotel and more importantly been looking forward to the event for last couple months since team was picked...
To then be told a week or so b4 the event is nothing short of embarrassing..how do you expect an area to find replacements at such short notice also??

But letís be honest itís hardly a shock is it ..

Letís clear one thing up here, this isnít a new rule or anything to do with a new TC as someone has attributed to from Ross.

This rule was VOTED in at meeting in 2013!!!!

At the September or December meeting a discussion took place about Supers teams and players etc and it was myself that stated there is already a criteria in place which I donít think the TC even knew existed. So they have been more active for this Supers than before simply because they didnít know it existed either.

Hence why people have slipped thru the net in recent years. That shouldnít have happened but it doesnít mean the rules shouldnít be followed in future simply because they were applied in the past.

He passes all criteria to be in a B team.

No top 16 or current A internationals or cue sport pros in B or C teams.
No top 100 or current B/U23 A/senior A internationals or former cue sport pros in C teams. Current = last 3 years.
