  Match times

Could someone with an official capacity please explain the rules regarding how long a match should last before the race is shortened, i.e. a best of 9 then becomes a best of 7 etc & if its only one player that needs to be informed of any decision or both?
I cannot find a ruling or guide lines on this anywhere, so any information would be good as it would help players understand what they are actually playing to. It seems the only guide I can go on is dependant on who you are and nothing to do with how long a match is taking.
Thanks in advance of any input

Slow or negative matches have always been subject to reduce frames OR 9 Ball re-rack

If your opponent is playing negative or taking longer than 60 seconds a shot

speak to the Referee/Tournament Director as soon as possible

ONLY if they are both told

I could not say anything as this was implemented without my knowledge

I could name........

That might be the case if both players are told, not just the obviously favourite one. It changes the total mind set of the players, even more so when only one is told.
This will be why matches are taking nearly 3 hours and nothing done about it but yet a match a 2-2 in around the hour mark is deducted 2 frames, absolute shambles!!
This will also be why players are NOT puting the correct score on the app so they can get as much table time as they want, if its 3-0 after 1 hour they can play out the rest of the match best of 9 for the next 5 hours with no penalty?
Can I ask the TD why at the Red Triangle at the last round of events he watched a match take over 3 hours, 3rd frame starting after well over an hour of play with NO penalty? or is it only certain players this applies to?

the event was timed for 10 games per session for 9 tables

this is because of no-shows and empty tables

this event was the first to have not one no-show

so the event was running behind right from the start

and yes I could run a menage, at least I could spell it correctly
