Just a quick summary from me after this weekends S15 Division 2 event.

I am sure Ross will give more in-depth run down!

Firstly, thank you to all of the players that attended this weekend. It was a pleasure to direct such a huge event for the SPA and more welcomed that the players were well behaved and played pool in the spirit of the game! A few sore heads undoubtedly!! A few players with sore vocal chords this week too! Eh Glasgow, Allez, Allez, Allez!

Congratulations to the winners this weekend, the comeback Kings, Kilmarnock B! They are a team that just do not know when to give up and continue fight for every frame. Trailing 5-1 in the semi-finals they rallied and reeled off the next 7 frames to defeat a strong Edinburgh C team. In the final they trailed, at one stage, by 4-1 or 5-2, but again they dug deep and rounded off a memorable weekend with an 8-5 win, to lift the trophy!

It took two teams to make this an occasion to remember though, and commiserations, but huge well done to Glasgow C. They had a titanic battle against Dumfries B in the semi-final where it came down to the very last blackball of the match to decide the winner! Enormous pressure for both players involved but Glasgow edged through, 8-7.

Both teams were class acts over the weekend and continued that even after the final ball had been struck with donations from both teams (£200 Killmarnock, £60 Glasgow) to the Mick McGoldrick foundation.

Thanks go to my team over the weekend, John Reid, Alan Reynolds, Fiona Atkinson, Dave McLaren and Stephen Tosh. They guys make it straight forward and as painless as possible for me. Ross chipped in too, for the odd 5 minutes here and there!

Final thanks go to Donna and her staff at Pettycur Bay, working tirelessly to keep the players well watered all weekend.

Over and out.

One sleepy FCBash.

Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend with a great bunch of guys for Paisley B and even more so getting to play in my first Superleague alongside my boy.

Had lots of laughs and great to meet loads of players who love their pool so much but also I think this has been the first Superleague event Iíve played at where everyone just wants to enjoy it whether win or lose and itís not all cutthroat and win at all costs.

But one request I would ask of Ross, going to have a word with the site, some of the prices they are charging is bordering on obscene, £4.55 for a Smirnoff ice?? You wouldnít pay that in the biggest nightclubs in the country. And there were umpteen examples of that right across the board. One boy charged me £3.80 for a pint of draft cola yet that is cheaper for a pub than cans will cost to buy in.

Now they've been caught out about the bogus repairs scam they need to make the cash somehow,
Really looking forward to Edinburgh getting a public apology for the way they where treated.

Honestly you cant win can you.

It was broken, it was done by Edinburgh but yes they never repaired it the way they said they would, so Edinburgh got their money back but you want an apology, for what exactly?

Number two finished and what a great event it was.

Our Supers are our pride and joy and I love to see teams attending having a great time and going away wanting to come back the following year.

I have to start with the changes to the top table, with the usual suspects away playing or supporting our teams at the Nations Cup in Cyprus, we had a new top table.

Michael Bastow was the new TD and he took to it like a duck takes to water as they say, never lost it at any point, he was joined by his side kick Dave McLaren who took on lots of jobs, John Reid took over the app work and of course we have our senior ref Alan Reynolds snr with Fiona Atkinson backing him up, that left Stephen Tosh to do the streaming and give a hand in other places if needed, its a team thing.

Well of course right away we had a problem, the SPA Router was broken, so no apps no streaming etc for Friday night but there was no worry at all from any of them, pen and paper to the rescue and all the captains did a great job as well.

Toshy got up early the next morning and got a brand new one and all went well after that but it still meant that all the previous night results had to be done manually.

I'm mentioning all this as next year our usual top table staff will be attending the BI World Championships in Australia and these people are perfect to take over when this happens.

Anyway onto the event itself, this was the Second division and you do not want to be relegated from this division but none of the 16 teams attending even had that thought in their heads, it was all about winning and after the group stages the top two teams in each division were West Fife A Edinburgh C Glasgow C and Paisley B, these teams got byes straight into the quarter finals.

They were joined by Kilmarnock B Levenmouth A Clydebank A and Dumfries B in the quaters finals.

Two seeded teams lost out, Paisly B were unbeaten until then but ran into a Kilmarnock team full of confidence and lost 8/3, West Fife A had the same score against them as Dumfries B went through.
Glasgow C and Edinburgh C both had far harder games but won through 8/6 against Levenmouth A and Clydebank A.

The semis were great, Kilmarnock were 5/1 down and looked as if they were going out as Edinburgh were playing great but they never won another frame and Killie got to the final, who would join them?

Well the other match went to the final frame as one minute Glasgow looked like winning and then Dumfries player played a great finish to miss not an easy black but not a real hard one as well, just the pressure of getting to the final made him miss in my opinion and the Glasgow player never gave him a second chance.

The final like the premier event in so many ways, Kilmarock V Glasgow again and so many lucky shots, unlucky shots and players getting hit by the pressure of it all, Glasgow were winning 4/2 but this Kilmarnock side are never beaten and when they got in front you could see they were going to win, which they duly did 8/5.

So two events done both won by Kilmarnock pool league against Glasgow pool league.

Lets see who will get the next two?

Congrats to Kilmarnock B SPA Super 15s Second Division Champions.

Agree with maxi that drink proves seemed more expensive this weekend than they normally are

Schedule needs looked at as well

Group 1 were after 12 on Friday night finishing and nearly 1:30 on Saturday night finishing

Itís not fair that 1 group is continually getting late finishes

Agree, we finshed at 9 on the Friday then had three games back to back from 9 on saturday. Up for 9 on sunday as well. TBH would have rather had your times.

Unfortunatly as we can only get 8 tables into the playing arena the times are based on the number of frames being played.

I will ask again at the AGM if the leagues will change the Supers to 9s and 11s , this would also help me out with caravans etc, less payers less and better times.

Ross if you speak to the players Itís not the 11s and 15s that is the problem
Itís that 1 group are in late both nights and 1 group are in early both mornings

I understand where you are coming from but as I said i passed your times onto the exec and others and they disagree with them just as others will coime on here and say the times are wrong, give us your proposals and we will look at them.

We are not going to ask teams finishing at 12.30 in the morning to be up back to play at 9 am in the morning but as always if any area wishes to put forward any proposal regarding anything, then they can be looked at and voted in for next year.

This kind of rubbish.
I told you and Malky the facts,
But I was wrong.
We wer blackmailed into paying with threats of our A team not playing.
Everything I said was 100% Fact.
It's been proved yet still denied.
A fraud was committed, you are implicated. So yes you should say sowy,
So should Malky.
