  11s Fee Query
by: geegee1984, 09-02-2020 06:32 PM (#1)

Firstly let me start by saying not looking for an argument just have a query
If this has been discussed before then apologies

If you take 11 players itís £645 total for the 2 vans and entry
If you take 12 itís an extra £45 accommodation fee

13-15 is £160.00 for an extra van
If you can prove that you have people staying in the on-site hotel you donít have to take the extra van but the players 13-15 have to pay the £45 accommodation fee

Now my team have 13 but 5 guys are paying to stay in the hotel at an extra cost
We have requested not to have the extra van as there will only be 8 in the 2 vans

12/13 have to pay an extra £45pp for accommodation fees but what I donít understand is why? When the 2 vans are already paid for in the original 11 and thereís people paying extra to stay in the hotels

Who gets the extra £45pp thatís already covered in other costs? Pettycur? Promoter? SPA?

Cheers

Garry,

Players choosing to stay in the hotel do so at their own cost, understanding that they must fulfill the cost of accommodation fees for each player onsite. This is to ensure they are covered by the camp for insurance purposes. The "extra" £45 will help towards the overall running costs of the event, event staff, live scoring, streaming etc.

Hi Michael

Firstly I appreciate the reply

Surely the same insurance policyís are covered from staying in the hotel and playing in the venue attached to the hotel? Also surely the park has a yearly liability insurance that is then factored into their break even cost per van when they tell the promoter how much they want per van

Iím struggling to see in the instance Iíve stated above where we are taking the standard 2 vans, paying entry fees and because we are not paying £160 to take an extra van due to players choosing to stay in the hotel that we have to pay 2 x £45 charges.

Surely when the costs are calculated they are based on 11 players at £45.00 which gets you 2 vans plus £150 team entry which is paid out in prize money

In the fees thread players 13-15 donít need to pay this £45 as taking the extra van at £160.00

So in scenarios like above it just looks like getting charged 2 x £45 as we arenít taking an extra van is not going to costs and just profit for someone

Hi there just noticed this fee query and the reply. I dont think the information is correct. The payment section says its 12 players paying £45 and £150 team entry. Any players above (13 to 15) must either pay £160 for an extra caravan or provide proof about staying in the hotel. What is specifically says is players 13 to 15 DONT require to pay the £45. So it's kinda got me a wee bit confused. We have 14 players so the extra guys have paid their dues but I have someone staying in the hotel. So should he not have paid the £45

Garry, my understanding is that a separate events policy is taken out for each of the division events. This is in addition to the PI insurance the camp holds. Now I may be wrong but I'll check to see what I am saying is factually correct.

Players 13-15 do not pay an additional £45 as that is factored into the cost of the additional van. This is essentially offering a small discounted rate to teams that may take larger squads to this event, utilising the onsite accommodation. The Hotel does not include for this.

Your suggestion that the £45 fees are going towards profit for someone is not correct. I think we need to remember that costs of these events have been increasing over recent years yet costs for accommodation have stayed at the same pricing level when running costs were a lot less. In years gone by there was no live scoring, no official streaming etc. These costs have been bourne by the event. The last increase was several years ago to assist with the additional costs of drug testing.

As a reminder any profits made at these events are split down the middle with the SPA and Promoter. A significant revenue income for the SPA which helps support our organisation throughout. Sums of money which are required for the organisation to function.

Ok, let's be pedantic. It doesn't specifically say they don't have to pay if saying in the hotel either.

For clarity. Players 13-15, if staying in an additional van, do not pay £45. Players staying in the hotel DO pay £45, whether they are in a squad of 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15.

I thought better of you Matthew. I'm not angry, just disappointed.

Is this a official SPA response or the opinion of Bash?

In response to Matthew, that is my own opinion, nothing endorseable by the SPA.
