SPA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT : CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
by: FlyingScotsman, 18-03-2020 04:51 PM (#41)

yeah son from today, we now know that there will not be enough dates to reschedule the super 11s for 2020 and as such the SPA will refund the leagues their payments back.

Thatís great. Can we now get a timeline for payments being refunded? Also on a side note can I get told privately how long it takes to do this in hours so for future I have I donít have to guess.

There you go again, with the rumours. Tut tut. Rescheduling isn't an option, and why not?

Clearly you know more than me, so I'll leave it at that.

Some of you need to calm down ffs
Counties wasnít even supposed to be for another few weeks so no one is out of pocket at present

The exec all do this voluntarily and like everyone else will have worries no doubt about jobs, income etc over the next weeks/month

Give the guys a break. It only got cancelled less than a week ago

Keep up the good work Bash

Out of curiosity if members canít make these new proposed dates will they then get a refund? Not sure what outlay has been made to these events yet but if none then the money should be repaid immediately. Iíd say transferring from a bank account to another bank account take about 3 mins x how many accounts it needs to go to.

That's part of the wider discussions we (Exec) need to have, to discuss the full implications. I'd imagine the majority, if not all, areas would play in any event that was rescheduled. So it would then be up to the areas to refund any players that cannot manage as the areas would still have to pay for the teams attending. Hence why I keep saying refunds won't be issued until we know for sure this i going to be cancelled altogether. I can;t see what people don't understand?

3 minutes. That's efficient. That is probably accurate to start the transaction online then input the amount required for refund.

However, the details for each account will need to be sought, then these need to be created on the SPA banking account, then the transaction accounted, then it requires authorisation from a second signatory. On top of that, the amounts will need to be deciphered as some areas pay one masse, and we've held one event, some have paid for players to affiliate, so that needs established if they want that returned.

But yeah, 3 minutes just like that.

Meanwhile the SPA Exec have no working lives to get on with, no personal lives to get on with. Everything should stop to refund areas to potentially then have to ask for the money again if it gets rescheduled.

Come on, let's apply some common sense here. Sometimes I wonder why I bother posting on here.

Think what ross has just posted now makes a lot of this irrelevant as he is saying the events are cancelled for super 11s 2020.

Everybody had lifeís to get on with donít see that as a valid reason or response.

I think the biggest issue is that the SPA are rarely transparent with their accounts so this can be an issue for them holding onto even more money.

To another of your messages I would have 4 hours today if need be for something I volunteer and get benefit from.

Aye, well Michael doesn't benefit. Nor does he benefit from starting this thread, nor does he benefit from responding to your at best snyde replies and antics. Nor does he benefit from updating the thread, nor does he benefit from remaining civil and professional in a position you so correctly point out he volunteers for. Nor does he benefit from all the time that takes. Nor will he benefit from any time he puts in to collating or processing any refunds. Nor will he benefit from the doubtless several hundred thousand pounds in interest the SPA will doubtless make from this Machiavellian delay in refunding people enough money to go for a pint. Nor does he benefit from his time spent travelling to and from and attending SPA meetings. Hopefully one day we will all benefit from your wisdom at one.

I wasnít trying to be snide. My original question was genuine.

Iím shocked to say the least that no one on the committee is benefiting from being on it. If this is financially or by some other means.

I'm not asking you to be shocked, nor am I asking you to believe your statement which has nothing to do with mine. I am pointing out that Michael has started and updated this post as a courtesy. Only to relieve the usual level of appreciation.

Jeeeeezo, must be good not to have anything more important to worry about or focus on in these times. Embarrassing.

The folk you are talking too just might have more to worry about so wind it in.

Just like to say thanks to SPA for getting all the refunds back promptly. A job well done.

Iíd also like to ask how long in hours this process was? so in future when I want to give my opinion I can be more accurate.

Please take your time in responding I understand this is a difficult time for everyone and time is valuable.
